Shepot is built so that we hold as little of your data as technically possible.
There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no telemetry in the app.
1. Your audio
Audio never leaves your Mac. Speech recognition runs entirely
on-device (whisper on your own hardware). We never receive, store, or process your
voice recordings. Recordings and transcripts saved in the app's history live only on
your Mac, under your control.
2. Transcript text
Text is processed on-device by default. Transcript text (never audio) is
sent over the network only when you choose a cloud-backed processing mode:
- Shepot Cloud — text is sent to our API (Cloudflare Workers) and
forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. We do not store transcript text;
it is processed and returned. Anthropic processes it under
their commercial terms.
- Your own provider — if you add a cloud LLM with your own API key,
text goes directly from your Mac to that provider under their terms.
- In the "On this Mac only" mode, nothing is sent anywhere at all.
3. What we do store
- An anonymous device token — a random identifier (UUID) generated
on your Mac, used solely to meter Shepot Cloud usage and validate subscriptions. It is
not linked to your name, email, or any account.
- Usage counters tied to that token (requests per day) for fair-use
limits.
- License data — when a license key is issued at purchase, the name
or email you provided at checkout is embedded in your key so it displays in the app.
Payment details (card numbers, billing address) are handled entirely by
Paddle as merchant of record — we
never see them.
- Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, status) retained
briefly by our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) for abuse prevention.
4. What we never collect
- Audio or voice biometrics
- Analytics, tracking, or behavioral profiles
- Contacts, files, or anything else on your Mac
5. Your choices
You can use Shepot fully offline in local-only mode. You can delete the app's local
data at any time (history, recordings, models live in
~/Library/Application Support/Shepot). To delete server-side usage counters
associated with your anonymous device token, email us the token shown in the app's
settings.
